Other Cellar Door Options & Services

Concrete Resurfacing/Surface Bonding

We offer surface bonding for cinder block, brick, concrete and most other masonry types of foundations. Surface bonding creates a uniform surface that increases resistance to leaking, but is also aesthetically pleasing. This is a good option for foundations that have a rough exterior/interior that would benefit from resurfacing. Surface bonding takes place after all other concrete/mortar work has been completed and cured.

Foundation Form & Pour

We frequently pour concrete on top of existing foundations to raise the exterior grade to mitigate flooding from excess ground water, rebuild damaged or deteriorated concrete, and/or to create additional steps and expanded space for a larger bulkhead. Concrete foundation pours and other masonry work typically requires at least two non-consectutive days from completion. Masonry work needs to cure prior to installation of the bulkhead top.

Concrete Stair Modification

We are able to modify and rebuild concrete stairs that have been damaged or deteriorated in pre-cast concrete bottoms. We often rebuild stairs in addition to forming and pouring over the top of the existing foundation due to damage or height concerns. We also often replace the standard wooden stairs with concrete stairs for precast units with sloped backs. We strive for a uniform height & depth for all stair treads and give special consideration to the top stair tread for safe and easy entry.

Metal Locking Tabs

We can install doors with locking tabs for padlocks on the interior or exterior of your custom cellar door. The locking tabs are securely welded to the surface of your doors.

Wood Stair Replacement or Installation

Custom removable wood stairs are offered using high-quality kiln dried pine sized specifically to the application.

Bulkhead Painting

Painting is offered as an additional option. All bulkeads come fully primed with a red oxide primer and require painting once all sealant and masonry work has fully cured. Customers that opt for the painting option recieve a door and components that have a minimum of two coats of high-quality Benjamin Moore paint prior to installation, which is then touched up following completion. Standard paint colors are Black, Wolf’s Gray, Platinum Gray, Charcoal Slate, Tudor Brown, Briarwood, Cottage Red, Chrome Green, and Essex Green. Custom color-matched paints are also an option.

Cellar Door Replacement or Installation

Custom and standard entry doors are avaible for the entry from the basement to the bulkhead stair unit. An entry door can be installed in the vacant opening in the foundation, or we can replace an existing door. In most cases, standard off-the-shelf entry doors can be used, but custom-sized doors are also available. Typically, standard & custom doors are installed with insulated steel panel doors and for security and efficiency along with a deadbolt and door knob set. Other options are available.

Metal Stair Tread Replacement

We offer metal stair tread replacement for metal stair units that do not require complete replacement. We remove the existing metal stairs and replace them with heavier 12 gauge steel treads that are secured with stainless steel self tapping screws. The stair treads come primed and have a course top for increased traction.

Gas Pistons

Gas pistons can be ordered to aid with opening/closing of the doors. Gas pistons are not necessary on all doors. However, they are beneficial on large doors, but they are not essential.
